From Family Legacy to Triple-Chartered Excellence: The Gaurav Vaidya Story

Every career story has a starting point, and mine began not in a boardroom, but in a modest tutoring room in Mumbai, where my mother, Mrs. Amita Vaidya, built a reputation for academic excellence purely on word-of-mouth since 1992. Growing up watching her transform struggling students into IIT and IIM achievers taught me that teaching is not a job, it is a responsibility to unlock human potential. That early exposure to the power of structured mentorship planted the seed that would later grow into my own professional journey with CIMA.

Building the Corporate Foundation

Before I ever stepped into a classroom as a tutor, I earned my stripes in the corporate world. I began my career at a mid-sized audit firm in Mumbai affiliated with Jeffery Henry International (JHI) UK, serving high-net-individual clients, some of the highest individual taxpayers in India. I then moved to Johnson & Johnson, a Fortune 500 US multinational, where I spent over four years deepening my expertise in management accountancy, finance, and IS audit. This corporate grounding gave me something textbooks alone cannot: real-world context for every CIMA framework I would later teach.

The Triple-Chartered Milestone

Pursuing CIMA was never about collecting letters after my name; it was about building a complete toolkit for strategic financial leadership. Today I hold three IFAC-recognised international qualifications: FCCA (Fellow of ACCA UK), ACMA (CIMA UK), and CGMA (Chartered Global Management Accountant), alongside my formerly held CPA-CGA (Canada) and MCSI (CISI UK) credentials. In 2012, ACCA UK recognised my journey by featuring my interview on their official website as inspiration for aspiring chartered accountants globally. I further sharpened my strategic acumen through executive modules at Harvard Business School, ensuring my teaching stays anchored in global best practice, not just exam technique.

Choosing to Teach, Not Just to Practice

In 2012, I made a deliberate choice: rather than climbing the corporate ladder further, I channeled everything I had learned into founding Vaidya Tutorials in Pune, becoming a Registered CIMA Tuition Provider and later a Registered Mentor for the Oxford Brookes University Research and Analysis Project. Over more than a decade, I have delivered over 80 to 100 hours of live, personalized coaching per paper, one-on-one and in small groups, because I believe every CIMA aspirant deserves the same individual attention my mother once gave her students.
